Appearance at Volvo Ocean Race’s finishing celebrations in Galway

Sophie and I have been asked to perform for the Race Festival for The Volvo Ocean Race finish in Galway this Tuesday, July 3rd. We will be playing on the main stage in the Global village at 1pm. As an Avid fan of sailing myself I am delighted to be involved. This is one of the biggest Sailing events in the world and Galway city were made the finishing port after a great festival as a stopover port in the 2009-2010 race.

Sophie & Fiachra invited again to appear at Sherbrooke’s Festival of World music

My duo with Sphie Lavoie appeared last year in Sherbrooke as part of a Canadian tour in August, the Festival des traditions du monde featured, for the first time, a stage called “Le Pub Irlandais”. The front of which was modelled on a photo of Tigh Coilí, a relatively neighbouring pub to me in Galway city. This year we have been asked to return due to the popularity of the stage and will be playing there from 9th to 12th August.

New CD ‘The Rolling Wave’ produced by Na Píobairí Uilleann

Na Píobairí Uilleann launched a new CD The Rolling wave on 26th May at the annual tionól in Listowel, county Kerry. I was lucky and delighted to be asked to record for this CD which is a collection of young pipers from around the world. I received a few copies today and it was lovely to hear the variety of the different pipers featured. I first began to learn the pipes with a set on loan from NPU. Hats off to them for there terrific work in promoting the art of piping and pipemaking and for promoting pipers like myself through the years.
